Compass Card Information

What is the Compass Card?

Amaze was commissioned by West Sussex County Council in September 2015 to extend the Compass Card in Brighton and Hove into West Sussex to provide more leisure opportunities for 0-25s with special educational needs and disabilities. The card will provide a wide range of leisure discounts and special offers across West Sussex and beyond.

Free fully accessible launch day for Compass Card West Sussex – bookings open now!
There’s a real treat in store for 0-25s with additional needs and their families on Friday 8 April, the last day of the Easter holidays. The free and fully accessible Fun Day at Lodge Hill outdoor centre near Pulborough will mark the launch of Compass Card West Sussex. There’ll be plenty of information about the new scheme, as well as a full array of indoor and outdoor activities from 10.00am to 3.30pm. Activities include archery, high zip wire, arts and crafts, Owls About Town, orienteering, terrain hoppers, alpacas, Polka Photography and a chill out space.

There’ll also be free lunch, drinks and refreshments. It’s essential families or young people book for the event – email the Short Breaks Team at West Sussex County Council at ShortBreakTeam@westsussex.gov.uk or call 0330 2222 562. If transport is a problem, pick up from Pulborough Station or other support can be provided –confirm when booking. Special dietary requirements can also be confirmed during booking.

How to register
Amaze is now taking registrations for Compass Card West Sussex. Parent carers (or young people over the age of 16) can now complete a Compass Card West Sussex registration form. They can find the forms – one for 0-17 year olds and one for 18-25 year olds here – www.amazebrighton.org.uk/services-and-support/the-compass-card/compass-card-west-sussex If parent carers or young people would like Amaze to post a copy of the form, they can email Amaze at CompassWSx@amazebrighton.org.uk or call 0300 123 9186 giving their full name and address with post code, along with the age or ages of the child(ren) they are applying for.

Who’s eligible for Compass Card West Sussex?
• The child or young person should be 0 to 25 years old (card expires on 25th birthday)
• The child or young person should have a disability or special educational need that has a significant effect on their daily living. Usually that means they will be eligible for DLA (Disability Living Allowance) or PIP (Personal Independence Payment) and/or have an EHC (Education Health and Care) or moving on plan.
• The child or young person should be living or going to school or college in West Sussex, or be ‘looked after’ by West Sussex County Council’s social services.

If families or young people need advice about eligibility, or help completing the form, they can contact Amaze (see above).

Compass Card West Sussex can be used as a Library Card too
We’re working in close partnership with West Sussex Library Service and if families or young people choose to, they can opt to use the Compass Card as a Library Card in West Sussex too. They’’ll need to give permission for this on the registration form and if they do, Amaze will share a few of their basic details with West Sussex Library Service and they will be able to pick the card up from their local library if they want to.

Leisure offers being confirmed – ‘go live’ date Friday 1 April
Leisure offers are coming in thick and fast and we’re expecting to have between 30 and 40 offers in place in time for the Compass Card West Sussex launch event on Friday 8 April. Offers will go live on Friday 1 April, so families that have received the card will be able to use it where there’s a Compass Card offer from that point. Of course, this is only the start of the journey; we’ll be adding more offers month by month and will be providing families with regular updates about the latest deals. By September 2018, we expect to have over 100 offers in place

Easter Holiday Activities

The programme is for all students at Oak Grove College and their siblings as well as the local community. All activities are inclusive and extra support is available for those who need it.
