Thrive Federation West Worthing 10k and 5k

Thrive Federation West Worthing 10k and 5k

Despite strong winds creating challenging conditions, almost 600 runners completed a 5k or 10k run along Worthing seafront in aid of the four Thrive Federation special schools. Not deterred by the wind and strong gusts, participants and spectators gathered on the day to support and help raise vital funds to directly benefit the children who attend the Thrive Federation schools.

The West Worthing 10k and 5k event, now in its third year, is a flat and friendly out and back professionally organised run. The year’s event was a great success with many local runners, supporters and volunteers including staff and families from the schools rallying together to complete the run in extremely challenging weather conditions to show their support of Thrive Federation.

The schools would like to thank everyone who supported or donated at the event and especially to all those who joined in on the day to run, volunteer, sell cakes or cheer on the runners. Thrive Federation would like to thank the Mayor and Mayoress of Worthing for showing their support and handing out medals, as well as the town crier, Bob Smytherman, for starting and supporting the event. They would also like to thank Myra Jackson, Community Champion at Tesco West Durrington who arranged for the store donation of water bottles for the runners. This year Ridge Crest Cleaning Limited, Water Babies, Crest Swim School and Highdown Church have kindly sponsored the event.

Thrive Federation is a group of four special schools in West Sussex who provide education to children and young people, aged 4 to 19 with moderate, severe or profound learning needs, including complex physical disabilities and Autistic Spectrum Conditions. The Federation schools are Oak Grove College and Palatine Primary School in Worthing, Cornfield School in Littlehampton and Herons Dale Primary School in Shoreham. If you wish to donate to Thrive Federation please go to Visit www.justgiving.com/palatineschool! . All donations received will be shared equally across the four Thrive Federation special schools.

Courtyard/Play Equipment Improvements

Courtyard/Play Equipment Improvements

We are very pleased to announce we have a new surface and new play equipment in our Courtyard. The old surface was cracking and had many patched repairs and the equipment had worn away and broken and was unusable.

It is thanks to Thomas Cook, Bodyshop, Awards for All, Burnley Sunley, DHS Cycle Project and the Friends of Oak Grove College that we were able to provide a new surface and new play equipment.
