Coronavirus Update 19th March 7:55pm

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Thank you for your ongoing support, it means so much to our community that we are working together at this time of great uncertainty.

Apologies for this being later than usual; my Senior Leadership Team all left college at a reasonable time tonight so we could see our own children.

Work Packs:

Year 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 students were in as well as all those in Koa today.  At the end of the day Y10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 should have been given a learning pack to help them have some structured activities in the times going forward when we may not be open for them. Please do not try and do it all at once, it is there to help you. If it is not helpful, then leave it. The website also has a “Home Learning Page” which will have lots of things to support learning on. Much of it is available now.

The same will be issued to Year 7, 8, 9 and Koa students tomorrow (Friday).

We also intend to put tips, ideas, activities and videos on the Oak Grove College Facebook page, twitter feed and website. The aim of these are to help structure times and provide a feeling of community and continuity in these unusual time.

Students who are not in college will be visited by a member of staff to have the pack handed over (but staff will need to follow social distancing rules so need to keep at least 2m away from you and we won’t be coming in) over the next few days.

Key workers:

If you work in the NHS, emergency services, schools, social worker or as a delivery driver you count as a Key Worker, please make sure you phone reception to let us know. We are required to provide education for all these young people in the coming weeks. Other roles may be added to this but we await HM Government advice on this.

In relation to providing for everyone else I aim to share a plan with you by lunch time tomorrow for next week.  It is with staff who are checking it through. Unfortunately, much will depend on the number of staff who need to self isolate and the final advice on social distancing for those adults with underlying conditions.

I am available to speak to families by telephone from 1pm til 2 30pm (and I will have sent the plan out for next week before then).

On behalf of the staff team, thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely
