Thank you for all your great support over this very short half term. It has been a busy half term with lots of year 10 and 11 students completing assessments, the plant sale coming back, Friends of Oak Grove College meeting and planning a range of events to support families, students and raising money for the college and off site sporting events. Students have been out and about this half term and it is wonderful to see this happening again.
At the end of this newsletter is a page titled “What parents and carers need to know about….” We will regularly be sending similar information out to you all as part of our support to you all re managing young people on line and how we can help them to do this safely. If there are specific platforms or online issues you want to know more about let me know and I will make sure we share those next.
The college, as part of a county council move, is changing our Management Information System over the half term and so on our return it may be that some of our systems are slightly different (and slower while we get used to them). Overall the move to a new system is really positive and will enable the college to be more efficient and make better use of cloud technology.
At the end of this half term we have two colleagues who are moving on: Courtenay Dean -Moules who is leaving her TA role to become work in a therapeutic residential provision and John Henty our ICT manager who has given 17 years service to the college and one of the predecessor schools.
We wish them both the very best for their futures.
After half term we have the following new staff joining the college:
Teaching Assistants: Jonah Langston and Luisa Dimasi.
Pastoral Officer: Sam Matthews.
Can I remind all families of the importance of checking students use of mobile phones regularly and ensuring they are using it sensibly and safely!
I hope you enjoy looking at the range of activities and information about college life in this newsletter and you have a wonderful half term and enjoy the extended bank holiday weekend.
Have a good and safe half term!!
