Dear Parents/ Carers,

There have been lots of discussions in the media around the recent industrial action and budgets for schools. Education is an investment in the future for all of us in society and in all types of schools and styles of education. If your young person is in our sixth form: they have never in their secondary education had an increase in funding that matches or exceeds the rate of inflation: therefore the resource to spend on them has fallen in each year of their time in college. That saddens me. I would hope that we can all advocate and continue to advocate for fair and increased funding for all of our young people and their futures.

More positively, we have lots of information and celebration in our newsletter. We are alsoeagerly looking forward to Peter Pan Jr next week, you should all have had a letter explaining the changes to the timetables for next week so that your young person is prepared for it. The set looks great, the props look great and most importantly the sound ad joy of rehearsals has sounded magnificent. If you cannot join us personally, please do join us online.

Our staff are obviously our greatest resource and we are committed to being a model employer and ensuring we are an accessible and supportive employer: as a result of this we have now been awarded the Disability Committed Award from the Department for Work and Pensions. It is important we are a model to other employers in working and supporting those with additional
needs.

Over the Easter holidays we are expecting to have a new ball pit fitted into Koa, redecorate the girls’ toilets in Koa with a Peter Pan theme. Build a new outdoor wellbeing area for the sixth form and develop their new outdoor classroom space. We constantly are seeking to improve and develop our resources for all students.

At the end of this term, we say goodbye to Lisa Edwards, who has been an excellent science teacher, year 7 teacher and tutor for us since 2014. We wish her the very best in her new adventures and we welcome Laura Levett as an experienced, new teacher to the college.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Phillip
